THE UNCLE ROGER'S DONKEY
L'ASINO DI ZIO RUGGERO

Two farmers were talking while they were going to the fields.
Due contadini parlavano mentre andavano in campagna.

One said: - Did you see Vincent, how skinny he got? I am afraid that he will end up like Uncle Roger's donkey. -
Uno disse: - "Hai visto come è dimagrito Vincenzo? -

The other said: - What happened to Uncle Roger's donkey? - L'altro chiese: - Che fece l'asino di zio Ruggero? -

- Ah you don't know the story of Uncle Roger's donkey? Now I will tell it to you. - Said the first one. - Ora ti racconto la storia. - Disse il primo.

- There was once a man whose name was Uncle Roger. Uncle Roger was poor. He had a donkey, but he did not have any thinks to feed him. He then decided to teach the donkey not to eat any more. One day, after some time someone met Uncle Roger without the donkey and asked him where the donkey was and if he (the donkey) had leaned not to eat any more. Uncle Roger, very sad, replied: "Young man, the donkey had almost leaned not to eat any more, but he died on me." -

The phrase "ggnè l'uàsine di zzì Ruggere" usually, it is addressed to who, having very bad habits, is convinced that this does not provoke no negative consequences to it.
