THE SPINDLE

This is another object not present only in Abruzzo, but almost in all the Italian regions. We show it because, in not very recent periods, it was much also used in Fallo to spin the wool at home.

Usually the sheep shearing was taking place in May and, after the washing and the carding, the wool was spinning with the spindle.

The women were especially skilled in this type of work, even if it was quite tiring, it was certainly representing one of the moments of bigger aggregation for the families: it was enough, in fact, to gather with all the necessary at home of someone for come the evening together chatting and spinning.

It was, how usually says, a way to combine business with pleasure.
