A FUNERAL OF 1920

A really unusual picture come to us from the United States. It was taken in St. Michael Cemetery in Roslindale (Boston,Massachussetts), June 4, 1920, in the occasion of the funeral of Mariano Di Matteo. Funerals, as well as Christenings, Communions, and Marriages were, above all for immigrants, occasions to get together and opportunities to see countrymen. By pointing with the mouse on each individual it is possible to see the name of that person. In many instances, to properly identify the person, the always infallible method of nicknames was used. The identity of the "paesani" is based on the personal acquaintance of the person who sent us the picture, or information he had received from older Fallesi.
