LU CUSCINILLE Lu "cuscinille".
This object is rarely found nowadays but was very common in ancient
times. It is basically the forerunner of the modern lunch box and was
used by peasants to carry their snacks for their morning break during
their work in the fields. The actual lunch instead was carried in a
similar, only larger hamper. This object, here shown in an adaptation
as a sewing necessaire, is the subject of a famous tale ("The tale of
the hamper") - quoted in a slightly different interpretation in our
website dictionary under the word "gné".
